Where is the best place to Exchange Currency in the United States? What should I know?

Any bank should be able to change currency. Some might require that you (or parents) have an account.

Airports have FX (Foreign Exchange) booths. Many hotels will change currency for guests.

If you look up FX rates, the pound is currently valued at $1.5923. When you change currency, it is not at one fixed price. A bank will buy at a lower price and sell at a higher price. There will likely be a small ($2 or $3) fee in addition. So 50 GBP would probably net you around $70 even though it is “worth” almost $80.
